How can an international framework like United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security become part of the everyday lives of women in Lebanon?

The “I Am a Peace Maker” project set out to answer this question by transforming the principles of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda from a policy framework into a community-driven experience led by women themselves. Implemented by ABAAD in partnership with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the project adopted a participatory approach that placed women at the heart of the change process—not as beneficiaries, but as partners in designing solutions, shaping messages, and leading dialogue within their communities.

Through capacity-building, the co-creation of awareness tools, collaboration with municipalities, and the launch of the podcast series “I Am a Peace Maker – Women Changing Reality,” the project made the Women, Peace and Security agenda more accessible by connecting it to issues that shape everyday life, including participation, protection, violence prevention, and peacebuilding within families and communities.

Today, the tools, stories, and voices created by the women continue to carry these messages forward, demonstrating that peacebuilding begins when women have the space and the opportunity to lead change.

أنا صانعة أمان

كيف يمكن لقرارٍ دولي مثل قرار مجلس الأمن 1325 حول المرأة والسلام والأمن أن يصبح جزءاً من الحياة اليومية للنساء في لبنان؟

انطلق مشروع “أنا صانعة أمان“ للإجابة عن هذا السؤال، من خلال تحويل مبادئ المرأة والسلام والأمن من إطارٍ نظري إلى تجربة مجتمعية تقودها النساء بأنفسهن. اعتمد المشروع، الذي نفذته أبعاد بالشراكة مع الوكالة الإسبانية للتعاون الدولي عبر مؤسسة AECID ، على منهجية تشاركية وضعت النساء في قلب عملية التغيير، ليس كمستفيدات، بل كشريكات في تصميم الحلول وصناعة الرسائل وقيادة الحوار داخل مجتمعاتهن.

ومن خلال التدريب، والإنتاج المشترك للأدوات التوعوية، والتعاون مع البلديات، وإطلاق بودكاست “أنا صانعة أمان – نساء يغيّرن الواقع“، نجح المشروع في تبسيط مفاهيم أجندة المرأة والسلام والأمن وربطها بقضايا تمس الحياة اليومية، مثل المشاركة، والحماية، والوقاية من العنف، وبناء السلام داخل الأسرة والمجتمع.

واليوم، تواصل الأدوات والقصص والأصوات التي أنتجتها النساء نشر هذه الرسائل، لتبقى شاهداً على أن بناء السلام يبدأ عندما تمتلك النساء المساحة والفرصة لقيادة التغيير.
