Gender Inclusive citizenship
This training manual is the result of a collaborative effort between ABAAD and the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) within the framework of the: Engaging civil society and youth in Gender Inclusive citizenship and leadership in Lebanon” project. This manual is designed for trainers in the region, as well as professionals working in advocacy and building community and social movements. This training manual aims to raise awareness of the importance of active participation for all community members in achieving social justice. It explores how social roles influence rights, opportunities, and responsibilities, highlighting barriers that limit access to resources and full participation. The sessions address core concepts of active citizenship, democracy, peace, individual and collective identity, and conflict management, while emphasizing women’s rights, inclusion, and equitable participation in both public and private spheres. The manual also provides practical strategies to integrate social roles into citizenship practices, fostering collective engagement, gender equality, and a more inclusive, just, and cohesive society.
