About the partnership:

This partnership is a part of a larger ethical research capacity building project run by the Global Women’s Institute, and funded by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. Through this partnership, GWI and Abaad developed and implemented ethical and scientifically robust research on the relationship between GBV and mental health, a research priority set by humanitarian, academic, and governmental stakeholders in September 2018.

Who and where?

This project was implemented in two regions of Lebanon: Northern Lebanon (Qobbeh), and Northern Bekaa (Arsal and Labwe), due to their high vulnerability status. The target population was:

  • Quantitative data collection: 1000 Syrian and Lebanese women accessing Abaad psychosocial support session
  • Qualitative data collection: 150 women community members, community leaders, and service providers
